Hello there, November!  Ask anyone in our NW Bergen County towns what holiday falls in November and they'll likely say Thanksgiving.

It turns out there are lots of other holidays and events happening this month too!  We've rounded up five, mostly offbeat holidays and events your family can celebrate this month in.

1. Celebrate Cookie Monster's birthday - November 2nd

It's the big blue guy's birthday! We dare not ask his age, but we know how to celebrate! With cookies, right? Right. ME WANT COOKIE!

Pick up a dozen from L' Arte Della Paticceria https://www.larte.biz/ in Ramsey, NJ to celebrate! They have an amazing selection of unique pastries, cakes, pies for all types of occassions!

2. Eat a sandwich on National Sandwich Day- November 3rd

PB&J? Grilled cheese? Your choice on National Sandwich Day. My family's favorite spot for sandwiches in Mahwah, NJ is Primo Hoagies. If you haven't, you have to try the "Turkey Schwartzie" which is: Golden Roasted Turkey Breast, Swiss Cheese, Cole Slaw and Russian Dressing Yum!

For great chain options, Panera in nearby Ramsey, NJ has delicious kids' sandwich meals for under $6. Join the My Panera rewards for great freebies and deals!

Uncle Guiseppe's,(https://ecomm.uncleg.com/stores/ramsey) also in Ramsey, has half priced sandwiches after 7:30pm each night, until closing!

*Each of the above locations also does a great job of catering for parties and corporate events*

3.  Visit the Challenger Learning Center- Nov. 8th

Visit your local library or museum as well, to have some STEAM fun!

STEM/STEAM Day highlights the importance of introducing and encouraging kids to explore their interests in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and math. We admit, we have fun at the Challenger Learning Center too.

Want some at-home STEM fun? Here are three easy projects our kids love:

4.  Play Monopoly- Nov. 19

Don't go straight to Jail. Instead, dust off this old classic (did you know this game has been around since 1883?) and settle in for an epic family game night on National Play Monopoly Day. Or really, any board game will do. My kids love the games available at Dottie Audrey's, in beautiful, nearby Tuxedo, NY or at most local NW Bergen County libraries such as the Mahwah Library

When we want to pick up a new game? The best selection of role playing games in NW Bergen County is Mythicos, in Mahwah (located in the Acme shopping center). Barnes and Noble in nearby Paramus, NJ or West Nyack,NY often have sales on board games and the NJ location has a HUGE selection of board games, craft kits and of course BOOKS and clearance, in the back of the store!

5. Shop local! November 26th

OK, this one might not be offbeat, but it's really important to our locally owned businesses! Small Business Saturday falls every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Take the kids for a day of holiday shopping in NW Bergen County and make sure not to miss Small Business Saturday special events at your local stores:
