When you think of Bethel Woods in the beautiful Catskill mountains of Sullivan County, NY what thoughts come to mind?
Probably words and thoughts such as Woodstock, music concerts, nature and day tripping. Do you think of food when you think of Bethel Woods and the catskills? Well, you will now!
The Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association in collaboration with Bethel Woods, recently hosted an AMAZING day of cuisine, culture, music and strong support for local food vendors.
We were offered the opportunity to visit and cover the 1st annual Catskill Cuisine event and it lived up to its name!
The grounds of Bethel Woods were packed with guests, guest speakers and families with children of all ages.
Celebrity chefs Alex Guarnaschelli, Marcus Samuelsson, Saul Montiel and many others well known food experts, were on hand for cooking demos as well as book signings. They were extremely friendly and took time to sign each and every book or even just a hat if you didn't buy a book. That is class!
Dishes such as Mushroom Risotto Ravioli with Wagyu Beef, Mexican Street Corn Tacos, and Honey Braised Lamb were just some of the seemingly endless sample dishes offered! Numerous food trucks were on hand to offer their dishes as well. Gluten free bakeries, local honeybee purveyors and craft beer vendors were having a blast! 2)The Eldred Preserve in, you guessed it, Eldred, NY is a new, luxury style hotel and retreat. They offer outdoor dining, unique wines and beautiful sounds from local musicians. The food is amazing and the service is equally elegant. Perfect setting for weddings and weekend getaways!
Wherever you go in the Catskills, you will not be disappointed! The Sullivan County Catskills is the perfect getaway, anytime of year and so close to NW Bergen County, NJ!
